About me
I make art as a necessity rather than a choice. Creative practice is
the only way I can process the emotions and contradictions that shape my life
and remain grounded within them. Each piece begins as a response to my past,
present, or imagined future, driven by anger, intuition, and a search for
meaning. My practice explores the tension between organised religion, personal spirituality and politics. I reject rigid systems and institutions, letting
each work evolve into what it needs to become rather than forcing it to follow
a predetermined idea. I am equally interested in the complexity of familial relationships and the emotional weight we inherit from those closest to us. My work explores love, resentment, obligation, lust, and the tendency to carry other people's pain as though it were our own. I hope people recognise themselves in these experiences, finding connection in the vulnerability and contradictions of being human.
I gravitate towards mixed media, combining oil pastel, oil paint,
beading, and digitally manipulated photographs because the physical process
mirrors the emotional one. Layering, altering, burning, stitching, and
destroying materials allows the work to embody transformation, conflict,
ritual, and healing.
